The Boston Celtics took an early lead in the NBA Finals on Thursday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points and 12 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 21 points and 6 rebounds. Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 20 points, but he was limited to just 6-of-17 shooting from the field.
The Celtics dominated the game from the start, jumping out to a 15-point lead in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 23 points by halftime, and the Mavericks never seriously threatened in the second half.
The Celtics will now have a chance to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host Game 2 on Sunday night.
